Overview

We are seeking a QA Analyst – Business Intelligence (BI) with 2.5–4 years of relevant experience in QA testing, BI testing, data testing, or a related field. This role will ensure the quality and accuracy of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data solutions while helping establish QA processes and automated testing practices within the BI team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test cases for Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, and data solutions.
  • Validate data accuracy, business rules, calculations, KPIs, filters, and report functionality using SQL and source data.
  • Validate data across source systems, datasets, reporting layers, and semantic models as applicable.
  • Perform functional, regression, and release testing.
  • Review requirements and acceptance criteria to determine appropriate test coverage.
  • Identify, document, track, and retest defects through resolution.
  • Create and maintain QA documentation, testing standards, and checklists.
  • Help establish and improve QA processes, testing practices, and test coverage within the BI team.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and develop and maintain automated tests where appropriate.
  • Support UAT and release validation activities.
  • Work with BI developers and Product Owners to clarify requirements, investigate issues, and communicate testing results and risks.

Qualifications

  • 2.5–4 years of professional experience in QA testing, BI testing, data testing, or a related field.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar BI/reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with functional, regression, and data validation testing.
  • Experience creating test cases, documenting defects, and tracking issues through resolution.
  • Understanding of QA processes and software development lifecycle.
  • Experience or familiarity with test automation and scripting tools such as Python.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage assigned testing activities, and communicate issues clearly.
  • Experience with data warehouse, ETL, data pipeline, or cloud data platforms such as BigQuery is a plus.
  • Experience with Jira and Agile/Scrum is a plus.
