About the TeamYou'll be joining a small, cross-functional engineering team responsible for the platform that powers every customer onboarding journey across multiple digital channels. The team builds and maintains business-critical, highly available services with a strong focus on reliability, scalability and software quality. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, Product and Business Analysis colleagues while working on systems that support millions of customers.

What You’ll Be DoingAs a Senior Scala Engineer, you'll design, build and maintain high-performance backend services that support large-scale customer journeys. Working in a small, autonomous engineering team, you'll take ownership of delivering production-ready solutions, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute across the full software development lifecycle.

You'll develop modern Scala applications using functional programming principles, collaborate closely with engineers and product stakeholders, and help ensure the reliability and scalability of business-critical services running on Google Cloud Platform.

Requirements• Strong commercial experience developing backend applications in Scala.

• Strong knowledge of Scala.
• Experience with the Typelevel stack (we use Cats, Cats-Effect, Http4s, FS2) would be an advantage.
• Experience with Kafka or/and Event-based architecture.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications, ideally on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience or interest in Infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Exposure to implementing and consuming APIs.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced growth environment.
• Passion for product and user experience, along with strong commercial thinking.
• Willing to own code from development to production.
• Familiarity with Test Driven Development (TDD) is beneficial.
• Fluent English speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
