Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Water Utility GIS Data Analyst to join our National Planning and Water Resilience Team in Hanover, Maryland! In this role you will assist Engineers, Scientists, and Project Managers with tasks associated with water infrastructure project work.

As part of our data management and GIS team, you’ll work across multiple teams to provide GIS and data analysis support to projects with water utility clients. Projects focus on data analyses for program decisions, grant funding, workstream optimization and more.

Role accountabilities:

As a Water Utility GIS Data Analyst, you will work with clients and internal teams to organize around the best data analyses for decision making. You will leverage best practices in organizing small teams to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to data collection and curation. You will organize the execution of analyses from field work, data aggregation, all the way to client-ready reports and assets.

In addition, the role will:

  • Coordinate and participate in training activities to educate junior data analysts. Provide accountability for the development of SOPs, ensuring integrity and quality control.
  • Interview stakeholders making decisions with data, understanding the goals in using data to drive decisions.
  • Understand internal and external KPIs and metrics and guide how data feeds into these measurements.
  • Ensure data collected is accurate, standardized, and usable for downstream data products.
  • Regularly review client-facing data products, flagging when updates produce bugs or issues.
  • When appropriate, maintain calendars, MS Planner boards, and other project management assets, keeping tasks and timelines in the view of all team members.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the team, leveraging a strong foundational data background to facilitate root cause analysis and make adjustments.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably STEM related
  • 9 years of experience, including 2 years in a consulting capacity

Key Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have experience leading small data teams and applying data analysis best practices to support informed decision-making. They will possess a strong understanding of statistical principles, including random sampling and confidence intervals, along with experience collaborating with field data collection teams.

Candidates should have working knowledge of database technology such as SQL Server and ability to write basic SQL code independently. Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and sound problem-solving abilities are essential. Experience developing technical methodologies, procedures, and documentation is also highly desirable.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
