What they look for
Requirements
Candidates must have five or more years of experience in pre-sales or solutions engineering within the data storage or management industry. Proficiency in Linux, file-system protocols, and the ability to travel up to 40% within the Western region are required.

About the role
What you will do
- Be the technical lead on hardware-partner deals and partner-SE work: POCs, joint labs, qualification support, and designs that run on partner hardware.
- Work at the hardware, firmware, and driver boundary when the opportunity sits on someone else’s platform — enough to debug and escalate cleanly, without owning the commercial alliance.
- Enable Hammerspace field teams and partner SEs to run routine hardware-path POCs without escalating to a Field CTO.
- Engage Field CTO hardware-partner architecture when the problem needs it; engage Field CTO HPC when the problem is HPC; escalate to the Director when a POC, whitelist/kernel issue, severity incident, or coverage gap is stuck.
- Partner with Partner Enablement on program execution. You do not own the partner program.
- Feed Product real gaps at the hardware boundary.
- Hand off issues that are product messaging or partner commercial — do not absorb them.
What good looks like in six months
- Hardware-partner opportunities in flight have a named specialist SE.
- Routine OEM and GPU-system technical work does not consume Field CTO hardware-partner capacity.
- Partners can run a routine hardware-path POC without a Field CTO on the call.
- Stuck POCs, whitelist or kernel blocks, severity issues, and coverage gaps reach the Director the same day.
- You know when to finish the work yourself, when to pull architecture, and when to escalate.
What you bring
Required
- Experience as the technical lead on partner-hardware infrastructure deals (OEM servers, GPU systems, appliances, or joint POCs with partner SEs)
- Ability to run a POC end to end
- Comfort working directly with partner SEs and architects
- Clear judgment across hardware, software, and commercial boundaries
Preferred
- Depth in major OEM, Cisco, or GPU-system ecosystems
- Track record enabling partner SEs to run without you in the room
- Experience alongside a Field CTO or principal architect without duplicating that seat
- Hands-on exposure to whitelist, driver, or kernel issues on partner hardware
You do not need to match every bullet. Hardware partner here is a motion, not a single vendor logo.
What this role does not own
- Field CTO responsibilities or worldwide hardware-partner architecture
- HPC architecture ownership
- Partner or channel program design, partner tiering, or enablement calendar (Partner Enablement)
- Product narrative (Presales)
- New-logo development (Customer Research)
- Sales quota
