Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices within a cloud-native AWS environment.

The role will focus on developing robust, secure, and high-performing backend solutions, integrating with enterprise platforms and third-party systems, and continuously improving application reliability, scalability, security, and performance.

The developer will also contribute to production support, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and continuous improvement of existing services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Java-based microservices and REST/GraphQL APIs using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x.
  • Build scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications and services.
  • Develop integrations with MuleSoft, Okta, and other enterprise systems.
  • Deploy and manage applications on AWS services, including ECS, EC2, and RDS.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, AWS CodeCommit, and AWS CodePipeline.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and support cloud deployment activities.
  • Work with SQL and Oracle databases, including query optimisation and application performance tuning.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot applications using Grafana and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Participate in production support, incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with architects, DevOps, QA, and business teams throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of Java backend development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x.
  • Strong experience developing microservices and REST/GraphQL APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly ECS, EC2, and RDS.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and platforms, including GitLab, AWS CodeCommit, and AWS CodePipeline.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and cloud deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Oracle, and relational databases.
  • Experience with Okta authentication and authorisation.
  • Experience with MuleSoft and API integrations.
  • Good understanding of cloud security, monitoring, application performance, and scalable application design.

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to security best practices within cloud environments.
